Description of Book:

Sherry (short for Sherlock) Baldwin is really psyched for Spring Break. One that includes hanging with Josh Morton, the coolest, cutest guy at school; clothes shopping with her best friend, Junie; and getting romance advice from Junie’s mega popular, older cousin, Amber.

Enter Sherry’s supercop mother. She’s a ghost. A ghost who can only make contact with one person. Sherry. Mom’s flunking out of the Academy of Spirits, a school that trains ghosts to watch over the living. She'll be banished to an afterlife for ghost failures if Sherry doesn’t help her crack a case.

The assignment: to stop a rhino heist from a wildlife park in Southern California

The problem: "Eeks! Ike! Ack!" Sherry squeals. “I so don’t do mysteries!”

I So Don't Do Mysteries is a humorous novel about a typical middle-school girl who wants more mall time, less homework and a certain boy. Instead, she's recruited by her mother's ghost to solve a mystery, and her life is never typical again.

Random House will publish the sequel to this debut middle-grade mystery in 2009.
